Shopping With Kids, Most kids tire of home
shopping pretty quickly, some after they've seen only one house. But, we
think parents should involve them in the process as much as possible, and
keeping them comfortable while on home shopping trips should improve their
experience and yours. Some of our best suggestions:
- Plan Fairly short trips, and in one neighborhood per trip if possible
(discuss with us how many showings to set up)

- Be Flexible. If a trip must be cut short do so. Appointments
can be rescheduled. You cannot concentrate on the homes you are visiting
anyway if your attention is diverted to your child.
- Timing. Avoid nap time if possible. If your children are not
overly tired things may go better.
- Bring along age-appropriate snacks and drinks
- Dress them in comfortable clothing and shoes
- Bring along a new or favorite toy
- Play sing-along music on car radio, or CD player or maybe a favorite movie
- Keep the car running while inside the home (if weather is hot or cold).
- Talk with them as you tour the homes, asking their likes and dislikes,
which room would they choose, etc.
- Discuss points of interest, other children at play in the neighborhoods,
parks, etc.
- Bribery works...plan a special reward like ice cream when the trip is
finished.
